Embroidery Club (classes) Cotton Ball 2012
Are you intimidated by your embroidery machine? Would you like to brush up on the basics or just get familiar with the techniques again? We will cover the basics as we do hands on embroidery and you will go home with a project you will be proud of.
All makes and models of machines are welcome. All levels of embroiderers are welcome- from very beginners to those who have "done it all".
You may attend all or some of the classes. The first class goes into the basics and is the best place to start. The rest of the classes are technique classes.
General Supplies: Books recommended: A Comprehensive Guide to Machine Embroidery from Country Stitches Machine with embroidery unit Machine manual---- I have worked with many machines but still need the manuals to answer some of your questions. All your hoops Embroidery thread you have Stabilizers you have Bobbin thread Small scissors
A way to get designs to your machine-USB stick, floppy disk, CD, card Embroidery machine needles Laptop computer with your software installed and up to date When you sign up please let us know what machine you have and the ìlanguageî it uses
Classes will meet on the Second Wednesday of each month 9:30 to 12:30 and 1:30 to 4:30 and on the Second Saturday of each month from 9:30 to 12:30 (Saturday classes designed for the beginners) Fee $20 per class per student

1. Feb 8--------Heirloom embroidery- We will make a fingertip towel using wing needle embroidery Supply list: Size 100 wing needle Embroidery needle
1/2 yard of light weight linen or good quality cotton or muslinin white or off-white matching embroidery thread
2. Feb 11-------- Explore the basics --- stabilizers, thread, needles, designs, how to hoop software basics- how to download designs from the internet and transfer them to the machine Embroider a dish towel using tearaway stabilizer. or spray starch

3. March 10-------- Embroidering on clothing: sweatshirts using hydrostick stabilizer, adult polos using sheer cutaway, baby and small children using aquamagic plus. Supply list Your choice of garment to embroider Stabilizer (listed above) Design and embroidery threads for design Check out the designs that come with your machine
4. March 14------ Lace- Easter baskets, st. patrick pin or Battenburg lace Supply list: Washaway stabilizer Embroidery thread -also used in bobbin

5. April 11-------------Bobbin work- "upside down " embroidery We will make a quilted lunch purse. Supply list: Heavy decorative thread such as Razzle Dazzle

6. April 14---- Sewing on"other" materials. Embroider on "bag" screen with aquamagic stabilizer. Supply List Screen Bag Aqua magic stabilizer half yard of fun fabric for bag bottom and pockets
2 yards of webbing for bag handles thread to match fabric and webbing for regular sewing embroidery design to coordinate with fabric embroidery thread 18 x 27 inch "pet" screen
